🔒 Pic2Text collects nothing. All OCR and translation happen entirely on your Mac, using Apple's built-in frameworks — no accounts, no servers, no data ever leaves your device.
Overview
Pic2Text ("we", "our", or "the app") is a macOS application developed by Rade Cojbasic (RSoft), Montenegro. This Privacy Policy explains how Pic2Text handles your information.
Pic2Text was built around a simple principle: your photos, screenshots, and documents are yours. Nothing is uploaded, analyzed remotely, or shared with us or anyone else.
What We Do Not Collect
Pic2Text does not collect, store, or transmit:
- The content of your images, screenshots, or PDFs
- Extracted or translated text
- Your name, email address, or personal information
- Device identifiers or usage analytics
- Crash reports or diagnostic data
- Location data
On-Device OCR & Translation
Pic2Text uses Apple's built-in Vision framework for text recognition and Apple's on-device Translation framework for translation. Both run entirely on your Mac — no image, screenshot, or text is ever sent to Apple's servers, our servers, or any third party.
On-device translation requires downloading language packs in System Settings → General → Language & Region → Translation Languages.
Purchases & Trial
All purchases are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Your 3-day trial status is stored locally in your Mac's UserDefaults and is never transmitted anywhere.
Data Storage
Pic2Text stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Trial start date (in UserDefaults)
- Scan history, including extracted and translated text (in the app's local storage — never uploaded)
- App preferences and language settings
- Exported files (saved wherever you choose to save them)
You can delete your scan history at any time from within the app.
Optional Features
Pic2Text can optionally watch a folder you choose, or automatically scan new screenshots, purely to save you a manual step — these features only ever touch files on your own Mac and require your explicit permission (App Sandbox file access) before they can run.
Third-Party Services
Pic2Text uses the following on-device Apple frameworks, and no other third-party services:
- Apple Vision — on-device OCR, no data transmitted
- Apple Translation — on-device translation, no data transmitted
- Apple App Store — for purchases and license validation
Children's Privacy
Pic2Text is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The latest version is always available at rsoft.me/privacy-pic2text.html. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
